CHRISTINE
Christine Wyatt (she/they), is a choreographer & artmakin’ facilitator; continuing legacies of resistance, equity and care through liberated practice. For the past 10 years, she’s been teaching, choreographing, and performing with multi-generational communities and youth throughout the US. She is greatly influenced by MK Abadoo, Alicia Díaz, Kevin Lamar Jones and Dr. Tawnya Pettiford Wates in her commitment to uplifting the Black Dance & Theatre Legacy; centering the the Africanist Aesthetic, freestyle/improv, and expression in the movement based experiences she facilitates.
CHRISTINE’S CLASS…
Afro-Modern has the same elements of a classic modern dance class with the purpose of uplifting Black dance lineages and experiencing contemporary Black dance practices. Choreographic elements of Black “Social Dance”, Jazz, West African dance, Step, and other African American Vernaculars will be present throughout the class. This class centers community, self expression, and embodied joy.
