HAILEY

CLEVENGER

Hailey Clevenger is a dance artist from Richmond, Va. A graduate from James Madison University where she earned her BA in Dance and received her PreK-12 DanceArts License through the Dance Licensure track. While at JMU, Hailey had the privilege of touring and performing with the Virginia Repertory Dance Company, JMU’s pre-professional performance company, from 2019-2021. She also worked with notable dance artists and choreographers such as Gregory Dolbashian, A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham, Ryan Corriston, Ruben Graciani, and Emily Cargill. During her senior year she was the co-director and choreographer for the Associate Dance Ensemble, JMU’s performance ensemble for first-year dance majors and was recognized as a Virgnia Teacher of Promise. Upon graduation, Hailey spent her summer in Denver, Colorado working with the Colorado Ballet’s team as their Community Engagement and Education intern. Hailey is currently one of the dance teachers at the Center for the Arts in Henrico County Public Schools and has choreographed works presented at the National and Regional High School Dance Festival Gala Concert and Informal Showcases and Richmond Dance Festival’s professional concert and next generation youth concert. She danced professionally with Karar Dance Company for two seasons, guest performed with Starr Foster Dance Company and is a current company dancer, artistic chair, and executive board member for Dogwood Dance Project, a Richmond-based artist’s collective and performance company.

A rigorous contemporary movement practice. Focusing on expansive movement, use of space, release, and flowing from one movement to the next. An intention on staying present with those in the space with us. Come as you are.
