5Rhythms: A Practice of Being
Join us for 5Rhythms with Jeffrey Boynton!
A PRACTICE OF BEING
Sunday, September 6th
11:00 AM-1:00 PM
Each 5Rhythms Waves class is an opportunity to drop into this dynamic practice of the way energy moves in the body. Through the rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness we will explore the qualities that enable us to access a deeper relationship to the intelligence and freedom of the body.
Using an eclectic mix and variety of soundscapes and beats from all over the planet these deep surging powerful rhythms can be both an invitation to awaken to our truth and an outrageously fun opportunity to move the body and dance. You can't get it wrong. It is for anyone, any shape, any level of fitness, any level of dance-ability.
All you need to participate is a body, curiosity, and a willingness to move.
Class led by Jeffrey Boynton, certified 5Rhythms Teacher and member 5RTA

INFORMAL SHOWING OF NEW WORK BY RMC RESIDENT ARTISTS
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
1:00-1:45pm
We are so excited to see the culminating work of our participants in this months Resident Artist Choreography Month!
All three of our Resident Artists, Jayden, Jordyn, and Emma were tasked with the goal of creating a brand new work, collaboratively, for an hour and a half, four Saturdays in a row. With dancers they may or may not know. With humans they may or may not have worked with. With people that may or may not have performed in awhile. AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS! Using the tools they teach in their regular classes of play, improvisation, dynamics, and their individual and collective creativity, we will witness the work-in-progress they have created over a short four-weeks. This informal showing will have a short talk-back after where you may ask the Resident Artists and Participants about their experience, what you saw, share your thoughts, etc! This informal showing will also serve as a dress rehearsal for the GRAND PREMIERE of this brand new work during First Fridays on Friday, October 2nd @ 7:15pm.

5Rhythms: A Practice of Being
Join us for 5Rhythms with Jeffrey Boynton!
A PRACTICE OF BEING
Sunday, October 18th

THE DREAM SHOW Performance
Join us for THE DREAM SHOW Performance!
Richmond Movement Center is excited to introduce our new series: DOWN-HOME CHOREOGRAPHERS FEST! A local, bi-annual, choreographer festival that presents in February and July centered around a THEME!
Join us for THE DREAM SHOW on FRIDAY, JULY 10 @ 7:30PM! The idea of this show is to push for more choreography being made in Richmond! We understand that art making can sometimes get pushed to the back-burner if we don't have a place or a prompt to get the creative juices flowing! So we wanted to create a show about DREAMS, where dance creatives can create a work around the topic-- whatever that might look like or mean to them! Then they take a MONTH TO CREATE! This means: They can’t think too much. They have to make choices. Learn to work creatively and collaboratively with other dancers. And then put on a show! Maybe it'll be terrible... or maybe it will be amazing!?! ...KIND OF LIKE DREAMS??? See what we're going for here? A place to learn and grow together, nonetheless!
We select about 8-10 local choreographers that apply for the show! We then hold an OPEN COMMUNITY AUDITION for dancers in the community that would like the opportunity to work with emerging choreographers in Richmond, as well as have the opportunity to perform— creating a wonderful opportunity for choreographers to work with new dancers who are excited to move and expand their dance community.
